The Segway X260 Stops on 203mm of Bicycle-Sized Brake
The Segway X260 left the factory with a 203mm fixed front rotor just 1.8mm thick — a bicycle rotor bolted to a 47kg motorcycle that will do 70km/h. The EBG Front Brake Kit V2 replaces it with a 240 or 250mm floating rotor at 3.5mm, a genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee caliper and master cylinder, and a steel-braided line.
- Up to 30% more stopping power — from a bigger, thicker, better-cooled rotor
- Nearly double the disc material — 3.5mm against the stock 1.8mm — far more heat to absorb before fade
- Genuine Ultra Bee caliper + master cylinder — not one of the copies flooding the market
- Firm lever on the third stop, not just the first — steel-braided line with a PTFE core
Stock Segway X260 Front Brake vs EBG Front Brake Kit V2
| Stock Segway X260 | EBG Front Brake Kit V2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Stopping power | Baseline | Up to 30% more |
| Rotor | 203 × 1.8 mm | 240 or 250 × 3.5 mm |
| Rotor type | Fixed, one-piece solid | Floating, bobbinless, with cooling grooves |
| Caliper | Factory OEM | Genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee |
| Master cylinder | Factory OEM | Genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee, right hand |
| Pads | Factory pads — glaze when hot | Semi-metallic, genuine Segway |
| Line | Standard rubber hose | Steel-braided, PTFE core, DOT4 |
Where the 30% comes from: 18–23% from rotor diameter alone, the rest from pad compound, line stiffness and the caliper.
Why the Rotor Thickness Matters More on a Segway X260
A brake turns speed into heat, and the rotor is what stores that heat. The stock 1.8mm disc runs out of material to soak it into on the second or third hard stop of a descent, which is when the lever goes long. At 3.5mm the V2 rotor holds nearly twice the mass, and the cooling grooves and floating carrier get rid of it between stops instead of passing it into the fluid.
Genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee Parts — Not Copies
The market is full of Ultra Bee caliper and master cylinder copies. They photograph the same and cost less, and the difference is in the piston bores and the seals — which you find out on a steep descent. Every Segway X260 kit we ship uses genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee parts.
Which Segway X260 Brake Option Do I Need?
Four ways to buy it, depending on what you already own:
- Brake Kit + Front Rotor Guard + Rotor — the whole thing, plus a guard over the rotor. Most riders pick this.
- Brake Kit + Rotor — the whole thing without the guard.
- Brake Kit Only — you are keeping a rotor you already own.
- Front Brake Bracket Only — just the radial mount bracket, M5 x 45mm.
Options that include a rotor let you choose the V2.1 or V3.0 rotor design. Both are 240 or 250mm at 3.5mm.
