Surron Light Bee 2 Floating Brake Rotor – 240mm Front / 220mm Rear
The EBG Surron Light Bee 2 brake rotor upgrade replaces the one-piece factory disc with a two-piece, race-style floating design: a heat-treated 420J2 stainless steel braking ring riding on a CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum carrier, fastened with titanium bolts. The result is stronger, more consistent stopping power, better resistance to heat warping and less rotating weight on both wheels.
Available as a 240mm front rotor and a 220mm rear rotor – order one, or both for a matched front-and-rear upgrade.

Fitment Guide – Choose Your Size
| Option | Position | Setup |
|---|---|---|
| 240mm Front | Front wheel | 240mm front rotor for Light Bee 2 – larger diameter for more braking leverage; the front caliper must be positioned for a 240mm rotor |
| 220mm Rear | Rear wheel | 220mm rear rotor for Light Bee 2 – direct bolt-on replacement |

EBG Floating Rotor vs Stock Light Bee 2 Rotor
The Light Bee 2 comes from the factory with 220mm discs gripped by four-piston calipers. The stock disc is a one-piece fixed rotor – the braking surface and the center mount are a single steel part. That is fine for casual riding, but under hard, repeated braking the whole disc heats up and expands as one piece, which is what leads to warping, a pulsing lever and brake fade. Here is how the EBG rotor compares:
| Stock Light Bee 2 rotor | EBG floating rotor | |
|---|---|---|
| Rotor thickness | 2.3mm | 2.6mm – thicker ring for more heat capacity and rigidity |
| Construction | One-piece fixed disc | Two-piece floating: braking ring + separate carrier |
| Braking ring | Standard stainless steel | Heat-treated 420J2 stainless steel – harder and more wear resistant |
| Center carrier | Steel, part of the disc | CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum – lighter and stiffer |
| Heat & warping | Whole disc expands as one piece – more prone to warping on long descents | Floating ring expands independently of the carrier – far more resistant to warping |
| Rotating weight | All-steel | Aluminum carrier cuts rotating and unsprung weight |
| Size options | 220mm | 240mm front, 220mm rear |
| Hardware | Standard steel bolts | Titanium bolts – corrosion resistant |
Why Upgrade to a Floating Rotor
- Less warping – the floating ring can expand with heat without pulling against the hub mount, so the rotor stays true after hard riding.
- More consistent braking – a stable, flat braking surface means a firmer lever and predictable bite lap after lap.
- Lighter wheels – the 7075-T6 aluminum carrier reduces rotating mass for sharper handling.
- More stopping power up front – a larger diameter gives the caliper more leverage on the front wheel, where most of your braking happens.
- Matches EBG parts – black anodized carrier pairs with EBG brake brackets, the Light Bee 2 Front Rotor & Fork Guard and other Surron Light Bee 2 parts.
Materials and Construction
- Braking ring: Heat-treated 420J2 stainless steel for strength, wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
- Rotor thickness: 2.6mm braking ring.
- Floating carrier: CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum for high strength with lower rotational mass.
- Floating construction: Allows controlled thermal expansion between the braking ring and carrier to help reduce warping.
- Machined braking surfaces: Designed for stable pad contact and predictable braking response.
What’s Included
- 1× EBG Surron Light Bee 2 floating brake rotor in the selected size
- 1× set of titanium mounting bolts
Not included: brake caliper or brake pads.
Installation Notes
Confirm the selected rotor size and position before ordering. Keep the braking surface free from oil and grease, torque the rotor bolts to spec, and bed in the rotor with compatible brake pads after installation.
