Your Sigma Already Has a Big Rotor. Size Was Never the Problem.
The Altis Sigma leaves the factory with a 260mm front rotor — larger than anything else in this class, and larger than the 240 or 250mm rotor in this kit. So this is not a size upgrade, and we are not going to sell it as one. What it changes is everything a bigger fixed disc cannot fix: warping, fade, pad compound, line flex, and whether your caliper and master cylinder are genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee parts.
- A floating rotor, not a fixed one — the carrier lets the braking surface expand instead of coning
- Runs cooler between stops — 3.5mm of 420J2 with cooling grooves and spiral airflow
- Genuine Ultra Bee caliper + master cylinder — not a copy
- Semi-metallic pads and a steel-braided line — the lever stays firm when the rotor is hot
Stock Altis Sigma Front Brake vs EBG Front Brake Kit V2
| Stock Altis Sigma | EBG Front Brake Kit V2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Rotor | 260 mm | 240 or 250 × 3.5 mm |
| Rotor type | Fixed, one-piece solid | Floating, bobbinless, with cooling grooves |
| Caliper | Factory OEM | Genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee |
| Master cylinder | Factory OEM | Genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee, right hand |
| Pads | Factory pads | Semi-metallic, genuine Surron |
| Line | Standard rubber hose | Steel-braided, PTFE core, DOT4 |
This kit is a hydraulics and rotor-construction upgrade, not a diameter upgrade. If your stock 260mm rotor is straight and your lever is firm when hot, you do not need it.
Floating vs Fixed — What Actually Changes
A fixed rotor is one piece of steel bolted rigidly to the hub. Heat it hard and the braking surface wants to grow while the centre stays put, so it cones, and you feel that as pulsing at the lever and, eventually, as a permanent warp. A floating rotor separates the braking ring from the carrier so the ring can expand freely. That is why a 250mm floating disc can outlast and out-behave a larger fixed one, and why we would rather change the construction than chase the diameter.
Genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee Parts — Not Copies
The market is full of Ultra Bee caliper and master cylinder copies. They photograph the same and cost less, and the difference is in the piston bores and the seals — which you find out on a steep descent. Every Altis Sigma kit we ship uses genuine Sur-Ron Ultra Bee parts.
Which Altis Sigma Brake Option Do I Need?
Four ways to buy it:
- Brake Kit + Front Rotor Guard + Rotor — nothing left to order. Guard fitted over the rotor.
- Brake Kit + Rotor — same, minus the guard.
- Brake Kit Only — hydraulics and bracket, no rotor.
- Front Brake Bracket Only — M5 x 45mm radial mount bracket by itself.
Options that include a rotor let you choose the V2.1 or V3.0 rotor design. Both are 240 or 250mm at 3.5mm.
